Earrings - "Lichen Blue II"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: Circles, reminiscent of the cycle of the tide, dance together to form dangles. Little rectables finish off the dangles. The connectors are made of raw brass, and brass covered in silver-tone metal. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina on the circles and rectangles is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive. The blue/green patina on the top set of the circles is hard to achieve and a little “fragile” - I have protected it by applying wax to prevent it from chipping off.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):
Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs
OR
Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT
We are great fans of lichen ~ abundant inhabitants of Fernleigh Ridge. They dress up the landscape with a lightness and an ethereal quality - with a little magic sprinkled in. They often dance in the wind, including in the night when the ocean breeze moves them to new and ever-inventive locations, signalling weather activity we slept through. They are our constant companions around the workshop - quiet little sentinels.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 3”, 7.3 cm - slightly shorter if selecting Option A for earwires.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
Remember, please, that different device monitors display colour in different ways.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
