Earrings - "Overlooking Greens Landing"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: These earthy dangle earrings feature different hues, shapes and textures. Dots, dimples and scratches - just like in nature. I have hammered and scratched the raw brass shapes for a more natural, authentic look. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by covering them with different natural ingredients and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):
Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs
OR
Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT
Greens Landing is a part of Wood Island, one of the archipelago of islands in the Bay of Fundy, close to the border between Maine and New Brunswick. We can see the landing from Fernleigh Ridge in Seal Cove - its own little universe, scarsely inhabited by humans but loved by flocks of birds. An expanse of the ocean separates Wood Island from Grand Manan Island - fishermen take this route to one of their distant bay destinations when they leave Seal Cove port - their fishing boats adding beauty to this already idyllic landscape. At sunrise, Greens Landing becons to dew-filled adventure. At sunset, its shore flickers gently with the embers of the day’s end.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 3/4”, 7 cm - slightly shorter if selecting Option A for earwires.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
