Earrings - "On a magical eve in July"

“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”

These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.

COMPONENTS: Raw brass circles, half-moons and fern shapes dance together to form little chandeliers. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina on the circles and half-moons is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive. The blue/green patina on the ferns is hard to achieve and is “fragile” - I have protected it by applying Modge Podge to the ferns to prevent it from chipping off.

Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):

Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs

OR

Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT

On a magical eve in July, the Moon comes to visit Fernleigh Ridge, its full face beaming. He lights the way for a little parade of the ridge’s inhabitants ~ fairies, deer and fawn, pheasants with their chicks, and the local feral cat. Two owls sit in the hackmatack, as if cheerleading this magical assembly - hushed voices whispering in tones of joy and celebration. The fairies wear crowns made of alder branches and brambles. Their white muslin cloaks sashay through the meadow of ferns as they head to the cliff overlooking Seal Cove. They take off their crowns at high tide and toss them into the surf, giggling as they go. And the deer bleat.

DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2.5”, 6.35 cm - slightly longer if selecting Option B for earwires.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.

Remember, please, that different device monitors display colour in different ways.
