Earrings - "Meandering at the Whistle"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: In these earthy, long earrings, I paired hammered and altered raw brass elements of different shapes, sizes and textures. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive. Incredibly lightweight, despite their size.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):

DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 3”, 7.1 cm - slightly shorter if selecting Option A for earwires.
“The Whistle” is a location on Grand Manan Island - on the northwestern side - graced by the picturesque Long Eddy Point Lighthouse, and amazing vistas of the high cliffs and Maine on the other side of the bay. In the summer, you might spot whales, dolphins and amazing birds off the deck on the ocean-side of the lighthouse. We love meandering through the area, and sitting on Arthur’s bench to watch sunsets.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina on the brass. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
