Necklace - "Turn the Key"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: I patinated and hand-altered a little raw brass shield. I used natural ingredients to do so and left the shield in the open sky and salty air on Grand Manan Island - to “age”. From this little shield, I suspended three dangles - brass shapes and a flower, hammered and with a heavy Grand Manan Patina, and an old, rusted key with a charmingly-twister end. The “chain” is made of various raw brass connectors. There is no closure - it slips over your head.
Many of us search for meaning - it’s human to do so. To try and understand why we are here and why we experience the things we do, in the way we do. In reality (if there is such a thing), “the meaning” is not difficult to discern - sometimes all that takes is turning the key.
DIMENSIONS: Chain length: approx. 30”, 76cm Pendant length: 3”, 8 cm
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the necklace. Doing so will alter the patina and dangles. If the necklace gets wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
