Earrings - "Night Deer Path II"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: Hammered and scored raw brass fern leaves suspend irregular raw brass ovals, also altered by me for a more natural, earthy look. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):
Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs
OR
Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT
Deer are abundant on Grand Manan Island. Several make Fernleigh Ridge their home. They have made their own paths through our meadow of ferns and through the woods, their gentle presence betrayed only by an occasional glimpse or nibbles at the petals of our summer flowers. The deer walk these paths at night as well, moving like silent shadows in the night. On moonlit nights, their silhouettes occasionally light up - fleeting moments of poetry.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 1/2”, 6.3 cm - slightly shorter if selecting Option A for earwires.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
The photos are of a sample pair of earrings. YOURS will be as close to the pair in the photos as possible, bearing in mind that patina never duplicates the same way twice.
Remember, please, that different computer device monitors display colour in different ways.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
