Earrings - "Little Fern"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: Raw brass circles, half-moons and little ferns dance together to form little chandeliers. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina on the circles and half-moons is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive. The blue/green patina on the little ferns is hard to achieve and is “fragile” - I have protected it by applying Modge Podge to the ferns to prevent it from chipping off.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):
Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs
OR
Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT
Ferns are abundant on Grand Manan Island and at Fernleigh Ridge in particular - they are a symbol of our little enterprise, and beloved by the inhabitants of our little piece of Earth - human, animal and fairy. The little shapes in these earrings are reminiscent of Spring - when our ferns pop out of the ground, pushing their little fronds into the warming rays of the sun.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2.5”, 6.35 cm - slightly longer if selecting Option B for earwires.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
Remember, please, that different device monitors display colour in different ways.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
