Earrings - "Fishing under the Moon"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: I applied Grand Manan patina, and aqua blue metallic paint , to the brass components of these earrings - first, I coated them with natural ingredients and left them in the open, salty air at the Island. The patina is raw, meaning there will be very slight variations in it over time, as if the metal were “alive”. I then applied paint to the bottom raw brass demi-lunes, once the patina formed. The effect is natural and earthy.
These earrings will sway gently as you move, in a natural, sensual way.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):
Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs
OR
Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT
Many fishermen work by the light of the Moon, often clad in heavy gear to help them brace against the cold. Her rays create wide ribbons of silver light on the surface of the ocean, when it is her time to reveal her full face to those toiling below. When she is but a crescent, or when clouds obscure her shimmering presence, eyes search for her all the same, gazing up to find her reassuring presence.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 3/8”, 6 cm (slightly shorter if you pick Option A for earwires).
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Do not submerge the earrings. Doing so will alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue
Please note that different monitors display colour in different ways - some more and some less vibrant.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
