Necklace - "Walking among Dunes"

$60.00

“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”

This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.

COMPONENTS: This natural and earthy necklace is a “mixed bag” of raw brass, quartz and ancient Roman glass mined in Afghanistan. All of the brass components of the necklace are covered in heavy Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by covering them with natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open sky and salty air on Grand Manan Island - to “age”. The paperclip “chain” is made of patinated brass connectors. Small lobster-claw closure.

Wonderful for layering.

There are dunes on Grand Manan Island - they separate Anchorage Beach from Long Pond and Great Pond, and run parallel to a ribbon of dirt road. In the summer, they teem with waving grasses, beach-peas, wild iris and other coastal fauna, in an amazing array of green. In the winter, the grasses stand up and fall in the cold wind, and fight off the the tide that sometimes climbs over them when the ocean churns in a storm. This necklace was inspired by the awesome, coastal beauty of dunes and their sister - the ocean.

DIMENSIONS: Chain length: approx. 36”, 91 cm Pendant length: 1 1/2”, 3.7 cm (we can shorten the chain for you, on request).

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the necklace. Doing so may alter the patina on the raw brass. If the necklace gets wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.

FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
