Necklace - "Intertidal VI"

This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: This natural and earthy necklace is a “mixed bag” of raw brass, quartz and ancient Roman glass mined in Afghanistan. All of the brass components of the necklace are covered in heavy Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by covering them with natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open sky and salty air on Grand Manan Island - to “age”. The paperclip “chain” is made of patinated brass connectors. Small lobster-claw closure.
The intertidal zone is the location at the sea or oceanshore that is exposed when the tide is out and covered when the tide is in. On Grand Manan Island, the intertidal zones are fascinating. At Red Point Beach and at Seal Cove Sand Beach, the two beaches closest to Fernleigh Ridge, amazing treasures reveal themselves at low tide - entire areas that are otherwise unseen, tide pools, depressions, hidden rock outcrops covered in barnacles and vibrant green seaweed and sandbanks.
DIMENSIONS: Chain length: approx. 26”, 66 cm Pendant length: 4 1/2”, 11.6 cm (we can shorten or lengthen the chain for you, on request).
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the necklace. Doing so may alter the patina on the raw brass. If the necklace gets wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
