Necklace - "Diaphanous"

This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: In this necklace, two moon-inspired shapes combine to invoke the image of a galaxy - in raw brass and silvertone covered brass. I hammered these shapes and scratched them, for a natural, authentic look. Both the full moon and the demi-lune are covered in heavy Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by covering them with natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open sky and salty air on Grand Manan Island - to “age”. I then added a bit of acrylic paint for a further dimension and a pop of colour.
The crystal is a genuine Swarovski - in diaphanous shades of pink, yellow and green.
The “chain” is made of patinated brass connectors. Small lobster-claw closure.
There is so much beauty around us, so much meaning - and much of it barely visible, accessible only to those who take the time to pause and take notice. There is beauty in the effervescent, the ethereal, the diaphanous - in the gossamer wings of dragonflies, in the ethereal presence of dew on cobwebs, and in the barely perceptible, shimmering air on a hot and humid summer’s day.
DIMENSIONS: Chain length: approx. 26”, 66 cm Pendant length: 4”, 10 cm (we can shorten the chain for you, on request).
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the necklace. Doing so may alter the patina on the raw brass. If the necklace gets wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
