Earrings - "Meadow at the edge of Deep Cove"

$33.00

“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”

These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.

COMPONENTS: Circles, reminiscent of the cycle of the tide, dance together to form dangles that end in simple, raw brass flowers. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina on the circles is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive. The blue/green patina on larger circles is hard to achieve and a little “fragile” - I have protected it by applying wax to prevent it from chipping off.

Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):

Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs

OR

Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT

DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 3”, 7.6 cm - slightly shorter if selecting Option A for earwires.

If you head to the southwestern end of Grand Manan Island, you will wind along Hwy 776, and pass through Deep Cove where the ribbon of the road hugs the rocky ocean coast. Between the road and the surf are meadows, in the summer filled with flowers and grasses swaying in the ocean breeze. These earrings are reminiscent of that maritime landscape - flower-filled meadows looking over the blue/green ocean.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.

Remember, please, that different device monitors display colour in different ways.
