Earrings - "Blue Moon"

These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: I hammered and scratched brass oval connectors and suspended from them diminutive brass crescent moons. All the brass components are covered in the Grand Manan patina - the result of applying to them different natural ingredients and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the island to “age”. The patina is raw, meaning that it will continue to bloom as you wear the earrings - with very slight alterations here and there, as if the metal were alive. The natural and random variations in the colour of the patina create a 3-dimensional feel to the metal.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):

Grand Manan Island and the Bay of Fundy are a marriage “made in heaven” when it comes to viewing the moon. On clear nights, its face lights up the ocean and the night island landscape. Fairies dance in the meadows, and on beaches and coves. Moths, including lunas in the summer, delight in the moon’s silver light.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) approx. 2 1/2”, 6.3 cm (slightly longer if you pick Option B for earwires).
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the earrings. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
