Necklace - "Where Dolphins Frolick"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: A hammered, scratched, and otherwise hand-altered raw brass demi-lune suspends a raw brass, hammered circle and a bundle of freshwater pearls, in various hues and wrapped with oxidized wire. All of the brass components of the necklace are covered in heavy Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by covering them with natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open sky and salty air on Grand Manan Island - to “age”. The “chain” is made of various raw brass connectors. There is no closure - the necklace slips over your head.
When you visit Grand Manan Island, you really should take the opportunity to go whale, dolphin and bird watching - abundant in the Bay of Fundy. Out there, in the ocean, there is world like no other - pure, serene, still in many ways unspoiled - and we, humans, must work hard to keep it so.
DIMENSIONS: Chain length: approx. 28”, 71 cm Pendant length: 3”, 7.5cm
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the necklace. Doing so will alter the patina and dangles. If the necklace gets wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
