Necklace - "Lignum Vitae I" - Tree of Life

This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: The pendant in this necklace features a convex brass oval with a cutout of a tree - the Tree of Life. I created the chain with elongated brass connectors joined with brass links. Both the pendant and the chain are covered with the Grand Manan patina - I achieved this look by applying natural ingredients to the pieces and then leaving them in the open, salty air on Grand Manan Island, to “cure” over time. There is no closure - the necklace will slip over your head.
The patina on this piece is grey/black and deep brown.
Trees are magical and feature prominently in folklore and spiritual practice. Many consider trees as symbols of growth, death and rebirth. Evergreen trees have traditionally represented immortality. Many magnificent trees grow on Grand Manan Island - several at Fernleigh Ridge.
