Necklace - "A Summer Morning on Seal Cove Sand Beach"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
This necklace was inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts. She gives them to us expecting nothing in return, except our love.
COMPONENTS: This very earthy, almost primitive necklace was designed to invoke the most basic of our positive human emotions - calm, trust, curiosity and joy. The construction is almost childlike but deliberately so - it will give you a chance to play a little, to move the necklace around your neck to the place where it wants to rest (we have shown you some options for how to wear it in one of the photos). 14 beatifully imperfect freshwater pearls are wrapped and then joined with patinated copper wire. At one end, you will see a handmade “swirl”, also in copper and also crude and imperfect, with heavy patina. The “other side” of the necklace is vegan banana silk - an amazingly sustainable, Earth-loving material made from the delaying outer layers of the banana tree - the bark you might say. The colour is blue/green, with lots of beautiful slub. There is a loop at one end that hooks into the swirl (see photo).
Earthy. Organic. Real.
DIMENSIONS: Necklace length - streched out: 22”, 56cm
Seal Cove Sand Beach on Grand Manan Island is particularly beautiful on early summer mornings. The “far” end is often shrouded in fog and mist, with the tide completing its cycle, and either revealing amazing tide-pools, or narrowing the sand strip to just a few feet. As the fog rises, Red Point is revealed, and one can walk towards it while listening to the hum of the fishermen’s boats as they head for their destinations.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the necklace. Doing so will alter the patina on the copper, the silk and the beads. If the necklace gets wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
