Earrings - "Swallow Song"

These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: These feminine dangle earrings feature different hues, shapes and textures. They whisper of summer breezes over an oceanside landscape, where barn swallows play. Inside raw brass “frames”, I hung dangles of brass “wings” - from these I suspended premium faceted Czech glass beads in beguiling shades of blue. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by covering them with different natural ingredients and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):

These earrings are a tribute to the many, many tree swallows that visit Grand Manan Island each year, and delight us with their song and zig-zags in flight. Light and incredibly nimble, they nest in the many swallowhouses on the island - returning to them faithfully year by year. Their annual arrival is a sure sign that summer fun is just around the corner.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 1/2”, 6.3 cm - slightly longer if selecting Option B for earwires.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
