Earrings - "July Hoops II"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: I suspended charming glass crystal beads, highly faceted rounds and faceted squares, from raw brass hammered hoops. The hues of the beads are bright and fresh - a lovely aqua and a fresh, lime/yellow. All of the raw brass components in these earrings are covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients, and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):
Option A - Kite Stainless Steel with plastic backs
OR
Option B - Almond Stainless Steel with closure - please select at CHECKOUT
When the tide ebbs on the island’s beaches and coves in the summer, the intertidal zone reveals areas otherwise hidden under the ocean’s waves. Fronds of bright seaweed rest on rocks and stones, and little crabs scurry for cover. Seagulls swoop in squaking loudly. Sometimes the seaweed is so bright, it almost looks unreal. These earrings were inspired by that scene. Greens and blues.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 3/4”, 7.2 cm - slightly shorter if selecting Option A for earwires. Hoop diameter: - just under 1” (2.4cm)
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
The photos are of a sample pair of earrings. YOURS will be as close to the pair in the photos as possible, bearing in mind that patina never duplicates the same way twice.
Remember, please, that different computer device monitors display colour in different ways.
FREE SHIPPING - This item will ship from either New Brunswick or Ontario.
