Earrings - "At Harrington Cove"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: Oblong metal connectors were scratched vertically and horizontally for a “thatched” effect. From these, I suspended dangles of demi-lunes and circles, both in raw brass. These are “framed” with hammered oblong hoops. All of the brass components are also covered in the Grand Manan Patina - one I achieved by applying to them different natural ingredients and then leaving them in the open, salty air of the Island, to “age”. The patina is raw - meaning that there will be slight alternations in it from time to time - as if the metal were alive.
Suspended from stainless steel, handmade earwires. You have a choice here (see last photo):

Grand Manan Island has many faces, despite its limited size. Harrington Cove is located in the lower part of the island, on the eastern side. The road winds along the coast, with lupins lining the shoulders in June. In the winter, the sky is painted with the watercolours of clouds and approaching storms. On a sunny day, one can see iconic Gannet Rock in the distance. A poetic location.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 3/8”, 6cm - slightly longer if selecting Option B for earwires.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the earrings as that may alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
