Earrings - "Last Embers at Deep Cove Beach"
“Mother Nature seldom gives us perfectly straight lines or flawlessly shiny surfaces. Mother Nature is best at being raw, visceral and atmospheric.”
These earrings were inspired by the best of Mother Nature’s gifts.
COMPONENTS: Raw brass half-moons were patiently, and over time, patinated with natural ingredients - the top ones. The process was completed on Grand Manan, in open air. To the bottom ones, I applied a heat patina - so they are slightly opalescent as the angle of view changes. From these “circle” dangles hang raw brass coins, also with a heavy patina.
Suspended from stainless steel handmade earwires.
The last embers of a sunset are particularly spectacular at Deep Cove Beach…..
The brass is not sealed, meaning that it is raw and will continue to bloom. There may be very slight, exciting variations to the presentation of the patina as you own and wear the earrings. In a sense, the metal is alive.
DIMENSIONS: Overall length (from top of earwire to lowest part of earrings) 2 1/4”, 5,5 cm.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Do not submerge the earrings. Doing so will alter the patina. If the earrings get wet, dab the moisture away gently with tissue.
